There is a thing I am thrilled about, and this really gets me in the mood to have some of my favorite fall produce on my table. Two of my faves are apples and sweet potatoes and I especially love having them together. So today I thought I would share another easy healthy recipe, this time a healthier side dish option to go with all the fall meals – my honey whiskey apple and sweet potato bake.
I hope, you already know I am always trying to find ways to have delicious food without some of those extra calories and fat. I love things that you can throw together quickly and either bake or put them in the crockpot to cook while I do other things. This particular dish is no different.
I love this dish because it is so easy to make and a healthy alternative to many other side dishes of this season. Or if you are looking ahead to Thanksgiving already, this is a great alternative to something like the delicious but not that healthy sweet potato casserole. This dish uses raw honey so it is also a clean eating option . I also used my favorite spice blend of the season (pumpkin pie spice) to season the apples and sweet potatoes as they bake. Also, if you do not cook with alcohol, you can leave the whiskey out.

Honey Whiskey Apple and Sweet Potato Bake
A healthy alternative side dish for your Thanksgiving table that won’t kill your diet.
- 3 large apples
- 2 large sweet potatoes
- 1/4 cup whiskey or bourbon
- 4 tbsp. raw honey
- 2 tbsp. pumpkin pie spice
Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
Cut apples and sweet potatoes into chunks and place in baking dish.
Combine whiskey and honey in a mixing bowl.
Pour over apples and potatoes.
Sprinkle sweet spice over apples and potatoes, cover with foil and place in oven for 45 minutes.
Take out of the oven and let cool for 10 minutes.
